Questo gilet è un indumento casual ma classico, perfetto sia con i jeans che con un paio di pantaloni eleganti con cui andare in ufficio.
Il davanti non è sagomato (lo scollo a V dovrebbe essere già sufficiente a dare spazio a un seno medio, ma se avete un seno abbondante potete aggiungere una sagomatura a ferri accorciati), mentre la sciancratura è eseguita solo sul dietro. Il capo è pensato per non avere agio o avere solo un moderato agio.
Il gilet presenta una una costruzione top-down: si inizia avviando il dietro, che si lavora a scendere dalle spalle fino alla tacca di scalfo, quindi si realizzano i due davanti riprendendo le maglie dalle spalle del dietro e lavorando a scendere sempre fino alla tacca di scalfo. Infine, tutte le maglie vengono trasferite su un ferro circolare, alcune maglie extra sono avviate per ogni ascella e il busto è lavorato a scendere. Una volta eseguita la parte principale del capo, tutti i bordi vengono ripresi e lavorati a grana di riso con il filato variegato.
Le spalle del gilet sono sagomate solo sul dietro con ferri accorciati, in modo pressoché invisibile. Questo dona al capo un’ottima vestibilità che abbraccia benissimo le spalle senza creare sgradevoli scalini nelle due strette strisce che formano la parte superiore dei due davanti.
Soprattutto per la taglia intermedia, consiglio di acquistare un gomitolo extra di New Cedro: nel prototipo ho usato tutto il filato compreso la maggior parte di quello usato per i campioni. Joyful a quanto pare è stata tolta dalla produzione, potete sostituirla con un altro filato dalle caratteristiche simili quali Malabrigo Rios o Noro Kureyon. Potete anche usare un secondo colore della stessa New Cedro.

This is a casual and yet classic vest that can be worn with both jeans or more formal trousers for office wear.
The front is not shaped (the V neck should already be able to accommodate for a medium-seized breast, if you are bustier you can add short-row shaping to the fronts), while the waist shaping is worked on the back only. The garment is supposed to have no ease or just a slight positive ease.
The vest is built top-down: start casting on the back and knit from the shoulder to the end of the armhole, then work the two fronts by picking up the stitches from the shoulder and working downwards to the same level as the back. Finally all stitches are placed on a long circular needle and a few extra stitches are added for the underarms; the rest of the vest is worked downwards in a single seamless piece. Once the vest is done, the borders are picked up and knitted in seed stitch with the contrasting color yarn.
The shoulders are in the back only, with short rows, in a nearly invisible way. This way the vest conforms perfectly to the body of the wearer and no ungainly stitching is visible in the narrow front sections.
Especially for the middle size, I suggest purchasing an extra ball of New Cedro, because the prototype used up all of the yarn included the amount previously used for the swatch. Joyful appears to have been discontinued, substitute it with a variegated, hand-painted or self-striping yarn that can be worked at the same tension as the main yarn: I suggest Malabrigo Rios or Noro Kureyon. Or you may use a contrasting color of the same New Cedro yarn.
