Pixie Heart
“Pixie Heart” is a long, hooded scarf. It has pockets on each end of the scarf. Each of the pocket has tapestry heart crochet motif and ends with fun tassels. The pixie hood tapers at the top of the head and ends with an amusing hanging tassel on the top center. It will keep dangling when you walk. ;)
The heart pockets also has stripes and ends with a lovely scallop lace edging. Even the scarf has bold stripes on both the sides of the head for a fun and bold effect. The entire vibe of this rectangular scarf is bohemian!!!
This bohemian chic style scarf is cozy, fashionable and a perfect accessory to sport your free-spirited elf self. Wear this unique boho scarf and let the world go gaga about you. <3
It is a little extra. Nope! A lot extra. What’s not to like about this scarf! It has a pixie style hood, it has pockets, hearts, decorative fringes & tassels which makes it a perfect mix of playful fun and daring fashion.
Story of this scarf:
I made this scarf for my tween daughter, Shaman. I began making it for her in 2020, but finally finished it 3 years later. We have a joke that runs in my family wherein we laugh when we see the crochet UFO’s(Unfinished Objects) that I have begun for her which I then finish it for her many years later.
By the time, I finish it, she has already grown out of that size. Thankfully, I didn’t finish making the scarf at that time, so I could still make it bigger now that she is much taller than before. She was 7 years old then. Now she is 10 years old.
This scarf is inspired by my “Hippie Heart Bag” and “Hippie Heart Hat” patterns. I originally made the “Hippie Heart Bag” in 1999. Then, I made “Hippie Heart Hat” in 2020 inspired by my bag design.
While I was making the hat, this idea formed in my mind to make a pocket scarf using a similar heart pattern. I thought to myself that a hooded scarf would look cool. Then I thought that it would look even cooler if I made the scarf with a pixie hood.
In the end, I decided that a hanging tassel at the end of the pixie hood would be like the topping on the cake. Talking about fringes, how could I not add fringes into the equation? So you see, each idea kept forming in my mind till this amazing end design formed. I hope you enjoy making “Pixie Heart” as much as I enjoyed designing it.
I have explained the half double crochet stitch in back loops in this Youtube Video Tutorial.
