Pizzelle Hooded Cardigan
The Pizzelle Hooded Cardigan is fabulous for those rare winter days where the weather is mild but cool and all you need is a stylish hooded sweater that you can easily put on and take off. Made with the beautiful and textured Herringbone HDC stitch, the Pizzelle Hooded Cardigan will work up easily. The cardigan features ribbing designs on the sleeves to create a pouf look or to keep your sleeves in place. With the added hood and braided icord design, you’ll have a stylish looking cardigan for those slightly breezy days.

SPECIAL STITCHES
Fhdc- Foundation Half Double Crochet- tutorial
Chain 2 (does NOT count as first fhdc). Yarn over (YO) and insert hook in 2nd chain from hook. YO and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through one loop creating a chain, (this is an important step but easy to forget), YO again and pull through all three loops on hook. This completes the first fhdc. To stitch the next fhdc, YO and insert the hook into the chain made in the previous fhdc and repeat fromuntil the desired amount of sts are achieved.
H-hdc- Herringbone Half Double Crochet- tutorial
Yarn over (YO), insert hook in st, YO and draw through the st and the first loop on the hook (two loops remain on hook), YO and draw through two remaining loops on hook. Be sure not to pull the first part of the stitch too tightly.

NOTES
- Pattern is written starting in size Extra Small with the additional sizes shown in parenthesis- XS (S, M, L, 1x)(2x, 3x, 4x, 5x). If only one number is shown it pertains to all sizes.
- Ch 2 (and ch 1) are not considered the first stitch, the first H-hdc (or sc) will be placed in the same st as the Ch 2 (or ch 1).
- Stitch counts take place at the end of each row where a change takes place.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
You will begin the Pizzelle Cardigan with the bottom ribbing at the full width of the entire body. You will work the body of the sweater along the finished ribbing. After the bottom section of the body is complete you will separate the sleeves by creating a back panel and two front panels, leaving openings for the sleeves. Next you will seam the shoulders and add the sleeves in the round to the sleeve openings. Next you will add the hood and then seam the hood closed. Lastly you will add the final edging. To complete the hood you will make a length of icord for the hood pulls and seam hood edging to create a channel for the icord.
GAUGE - With J/6.0mm hook
15 sts and 11 rows = 4”
In H-hdc, begin with fhdc for continuity
Ribbing- in sc blo
9 sts and 8 rows = 2”
