Take a virtual trip to bonny Scotland when you knit this charming tam complete with a perky pompom. Theresa Schabes’s plaid pattern is not traditional, but captures the spirit of classic tartans.

MATERIALS
• 1 1 3/4oz/50g ball (each approx 175yd/160m) of Rowan/Westminster Fibers Cashsoft 4-Ply (extrafine merino wool/acrylic microfibre/cashmere) each in #449 bottleblue (A), #4606 pretty (B), #446 quartz (C), and #431 deep (D) YARN WT = 1
• One each sizes 3 and 4 (3.25 and 3.5mm) circular needles, 16”/40cm long, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• One set (5) size 4 (3.5mm) double-pointed needles (dpns)
• Size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
• Stitch markers
