Planetary Pullover
Planetary Pullover is the celestial, science-y sweater you’ve been waiting for. You’ll be the center of your very own sweater-sized solar system as eight (or nine!) planetary orbits encircle you, with an optional stranded colorwork asteroid belt — eat your heart out, Copernicus! Complete with embroidered planets along each elliptical path, this astronomically nerdy sweater will let you shine like the star that you are!
PLANETARY EMBROIDERY
One of the most fun finishing touches for your Planetary Pullover is adding the planets at the end! I chose to use lovely little scraps of Casual Fashion Queen hand-dyed yarn to embroider my planets, but some of my test knitters used buttons or omitted the planets entirely. It’s up to you!
To make my pullover even more special, I chose to embroider the planets in the positions they were in on the date I met my spouse, Sam. It was a gorgeous May night at Moonlight Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a handsome young man asked me to dance…
If you’d like to see the position of the planets on a date special to you, check out the following website. If you decide to include Pluto’s orbit, you need to select the “show dwarf planets” option.
