US 5 (3.75mm), or as required to meet gauge

GAUGE
20 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch after blocking

31 sts and 22 rows = 4 inches in chevron garter stitch pattern after blocking

NOTE: Gauge is not extremely important, though it will affect the finished dimensions and yardage used.
