You will need:
KnitPal Cotton Bliss Worsted weight #4 – 30% long staple cotton / 70% acrylic, 160 yards/147 meters per 3.5 ounces/100 grams; 2 skeins, shown in colorway Cherry Velvet
US 8 / 5mm circular needles and 2 DPNs (or size to obtain gauge)
Tapestry needle
Measuring tape
2 distinct stitch markers

You will need to know how to:

  • Cast On (maker’s choice but the designer used the German Twisted Long Tail method)
  • work a knit stitch
  • work a purl stitch
  • work a k2tog and SSK stitch (decrease methods)
  • work a M1R and M1L stitch (increase methods with specific Lean direction for the resulting stitch)
  • work a yarn over stitch
  • work a Pleat (see special stitches and the pattern section for the Pleats)
  • knit “flat” (turning for each new row)
  • knit “in the round” (never turning the work, just continuing each round’s final stitch with the beginning of round’s first stitch)
  • Bind Off once done (designer used the basic knit next stitch and then slip the first stitch over the stitch just worked)
  • weave in tails/ends of yarn
  • seam (for the shoulders, if not using the 3-needle bind off method)
  • work the 3-needle bind off method (for the shoulders, if not seaming)
