This hat is the mother of the “Plume Panel Hat”

Anytime you are working with a new pattern or material please take the time to check your gauge.

Plume is a gorgeous combination of ribbing and lace named for the Ostrich Plume Lace panel. The ribbing keeps the hat snug and warm on the ears while the lace at the top gives you some style.

Lace always looks complicated to me, but once you break it down it’s just yarn overs and decreasing. The pattern is written for an teen/adult size, 19-22 inch head circumference. The depth or “slouchiness” of the hat can be easily manipulated by knitting more or less lace repeats before decreasing.

This Pattern is written for circular knitting needles and calls for a worsted or light worsted yarn. I have used both SWTC Therapi and Cascade 220 Superwash and both turn out beautifully.
