Plumeria is a lightweight summer tank with a customizable V neckline and an airy lace body that gives it that easy, floaty feel. It’s worked top down so you can try it on as you go, and there’s only a small amount of finishing at the underarm.

The stockinette upper section keeps things simple while the lace body becomes pleasantly repetitive and relaxing. The hem is finished with a picot bind off and the straps are worked as an easily adjustable i-cord, so the final piece is delicate and a beautiful bespoke fit.

Design Details

Plumeria is a lightweight, tunic-style tank designed to feel effortless and fit beautifully. The airy lace body drapes softly and moves, while the modern V neckline and i-cord straps keep the silhouette structured and polished.

Almost everything about this design is customizable; the bodice depth, the V neck depth, and the body length can all be adjusted to suit your fit and your style. Choose a cropped tank or a longer tunic, Plumeria grows with you, and video tutorials are included to walk you through exactly how to make those adjustments as you knit.

The picot hem adds a soft, scalloped finish that feels special and feminine, a lovely little detail that rewards you right at the end.

Pattern Highlights

  • Tunic length with fully customizable body and bodice depth
  • Top down construction so you can try it on as you knit
  • Memorable lace repeat that’s easy to read and relaxing to knit
  • Delicate picot hem and i-cord straps for a polished finish

Construction Overview

Plumeria is worked from the top down. The neckline is shaped flat first to form the V neck. After the front and back reach the underarm, the work is joined in the round and the lace body continues to the hem.

The hem is finished with a picot bind off. Straps are created using i-cord. Only a small amount of underarm finishing is required.

Yarn Notes

Our sample was knit in Olann Smoked Sock, a fingering weight blend that really makes this design shine. The alpaca and silk give the fabric fluid drape while the stitch definition keeps the lace crisp and visible.

Fiber: 70% baby alpaca / 20% silk / 10% cashmere
Yardage: 437 yards (400 m) per 100 g skein

Plumeria works best in yarns with drape. Alpaca, silk blends, bamboo, linen blends, yak, or soft merino singles all work beautifully. If your yarn feels good next to skin and hangs softly, it will likely be a great choice.

Finished Measurements

Plumeria is designed for 0–5” of positive ease at the bust.

To choose your size:

  1. Measure your full bust
  2. Add 0–5”
  3. Choose the size closest to that number

Example: If your full bust measures 40”, you might choose:

  • 40” size for a closer fit
  • 43” size for a more relaxed fit

If you prefer a higher V neckline, choose less ease to avoid extra fabric at the underarm.
