This slightly slouchy hat’s design was inspired by the vivid yarn color used for the sample. A crocheted I-cord foundation makes a soft and comfortable brim from which straight cable stems and puff stitch berries “grow” on a front loop only single crochet background.

Pattern is for one size; for a larger or smaller hat circumference, or if using a different weight yarn, add or subtract multiples of 11 to foundation I-cord rows. Sample is 9” (23 cm) tall and used 1 100-gm skein.

This pattern is part of the book Live Loop Cables in Crochet, which uses an innovative technique to create I-cord like cables on the fabric surface. Patterns were tech edited by Amy Daraghy (GreenHook on Rav).

Thanks for viewing, and happy crocheting!
