Polished Glass Scarf
This delicate and textured scarf is perfect for keeping the chill off your neck in the summer or winter. The puff stitches that provide the texture remind me of polished glass that can be found on some beaches.
Finished measurements
At gauge given, sample measures 11 inches (23 cm) wide x 74 inches (188 cm) long.
Length and width are adjustable; see pattern notes.
Materials
- 1181 yards / 1080 meters laceweight yarn with Z-twist (2-ply, 80% Targhee, 10% silk, 10% bamboo); sample made with fiber from Essential Fibers in the Lagoon (Dark) colorway
- C / 2.75 mm hook
- Mats, blocking wires, and T-pins or blocking combs
Gauge
30 stitches and 12 rows worked in pattern equals 4 inches x 4 inches (10 cm x 10 cm)
To swatch, work a foundation chain of 54 stitches, and work instructions as written, until you have a piece about 5 inches (12 cm) long. Wash before measuring.
Notes
You can change the width of the scarf in half-inch (1 cm) increments by adding or removing stitches to the chain in any multiple of 4. Pattern requires a multiple of 4 sts plus 3; the foundation chain needs 4 sts plus 6; the first 3 chs are used to make the initial tr cluster.
Add or remove 2 inches (5 cm) to the length of the scarf by adding or removing repeats of Rows 7–12.
