A cardigan that reveals the colors of your tops in polka dots with its coin-size holes.

It is worked from the top down, seamlessly. The body has an extra-oversized fit and the decreases worked just before the hem ribbing shape the waist tight-fitting. The sleeves are extra wide and long so that you can layer it over various types of clothes, like a jacket. Take advantage of the top-down construction and try on your cardigan in progress to adjust the body and sleeve lengths to your liking.

This cardigan is knitted with very large size needles and a thick yarn. Instead of using one strand of super bulky weight yarn, you can hold various types and weights of yarns together. On my blog, you can calculate the finished weight of sweaters worked with various yarns held together. I hope it helps you find your favorite yarn combination.

Sizes

The sizes are designed to fit a bust circumference of 56 (61, 66, 71)76–86, 86–97, 97–107{114–122, 122–137, 137–152} cm / 22 (24, 26, 28)30–34, 34–38, 38–42{45–48, 48–54, 54–60}“

kids 1 = 2–4 years, kids 2 = 4–6 years, kids 3 = 6–8 years, kids 4 = 8–11 years.

Designed to have approx. 48–68 cm / 19–26.75“ of positive ease for adult, meaning it is designed to be approx. 48–68 cm / 19–26.75“ larger in circumference than your bust measurement.

Approx. 26 (35, 44, 48) cm / 10 (13.75, 17.25, 19)“ of positive ease for kids.

Yarn

The weight of yarn is bulky, or worsted knitted double, or aran plus worsted or whatever weight gives you gauge. You will find below examples of the yarns I used in my samples.

The length of yarn you will need for each size is:

If you knit with one strand of bulky yarn or with several strands of different yarns, that is the length you will need for each one of your yarn(s): 320 (390, 440, 570)700, 740, 800{910, 970, 1020} meters / 350 (427, 482, 624)766, 810, 875{996, 1061, 1116} yards.

If you knit with the same yarn held double, you will need twice as much yarn which is: 640 (780, 880, 1140)1400, 1480, 1600{1820, 1940, 2040} meters / 700 (854, 964, 1248)1532, 1620, 1750{1992, 2122, 2232} yards.

Sample 1 (green, S–M, pictures): 5 (6, 7, 9)10, 11, 12{13, 14, 15} balls of Sandnes Garn Børstet Alpakka (96% alpaca, 4% nylon; 110 meters/50g; bulky weight), colorway 8236 (green), held double throughout the pattern.

Needles

Circular needles, longer than 80 cm / 32 inches. Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

Notions

3 (3, 3, 4)4{4} Buttons (⌀27 mm for kids, ⌀30 mm for adult) , 3(3)3{3, 4, 4} stitch markers (I recommend to use 2 different colors of markers for size 3XL–4XL and 5XL–6XL: 2 for underarm or EOR, 2 for short rows), 2 locking stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle, tape measure (is very useful if you will try on the sweater during knitting).

下に着る服の色が水玉模様になって見えるカーディガンです. 10円玉くらいの大きな穴が開いています. 身頃はぶかっとしたオーバーサイズに編み, 裾のゴム編みの手前で減らし目をして腰回りをキュッとさせます. 下にいろいろな服が着られるように太くて長い袖にしました. ジャケット代わりに羽織っていただけるカーディガンになればと思っています.

このカーディガンは上から下に向かってトップダウンで編む, とじはぎの無いパターンです. 着丈や袖丈は途中で試着をしながらお好みの長さに調節してみて下さい.

とても太い針を使って編みます. 1本の太い糸を使う代わりに複数の糸を引き揃えて編むことができます. 私のブログで複数の糸を引き揃えて編むセーターやカーディガンの完成後の重さを計算できるようになっていますので, よかったら糸選びの参考にして下さい.

サイズ

子ども1 (子ども2, 子ども3, 子ども4)2XS〜XS, S〜M, L〜XL{2XL〜3XL, 3XL〜4XL, 5XL〜6XL}

各サイズは, ヌードバストが 56 (61, 66, 71)76–86, 86–97, 97–107{114–122, 122–137, 137–152} cmの人が着ることを想定してデザインしてあります.

子ども1 = 2～4歳, 子ども2 = 4～6歳,子ども3 = 6～8歳, 子ども4 = 8～11歳

お子さんの身長に合わせて, 袖と身頃の長さを調節して下さい.

大人サイズのバストのゆとり: + 52〜62 cm. (仕上がりバスト寸法はヌードバストよりも48〜68 cm大きくなるようにデザインしてあります)

子どもサイズのバストのゆとり: + 26 (35, 44, 48) cm

糸

極太(bulky)1本, もしくは並太糸(worsted)の2本取り, 中細(fingering)と並太(aran)の引き揃え, 合太(sport)の3本取りなど, お好きな糸の組み合わせでゲージが出せるものを探してみて下さい.

1本の糸で編む場合, もしくは複数の異なる糸や色を引き揃える場合は各320 (390, 440, 570)700, 740, 800{910, 970, 1020}m,

同じ糸を2本取りで使う場合は上記の2倍の 640 (780, 880, 1140)1400, 1480, 1600{1820, 1940, 2040}m 使用します.

サンプル1 (明るいグリーン, S〜M, 写真): Sandnes Garn の Børstet Alpakka (アルパカ96%, ナイロン4%; 110m/50g; bulky weght; 8236グリーン)を5 (6, 7, 9)10, 11, 12{13, 14, 15}玉, 2本取りで使用.

針

ゲージに合わせて, 針のサイズを調整して下さい. 80 cm 以上の長さの輪針.

A. メインの針(一番太い針)を身頃と 袖に使用 B. 2目ゴム編み用の中くらいの針を裾と袖口のリブに使用 C. 1目ゴム編み用の細い針を前たてのリブに使用.
