PolkaSocks
I chose the name PolkaSocks because the patterning is an accordion rib. Plus my best friend’s husband, who recently retired from teaching, loves polka…and has taken up accordion lessons as a new retirement activity. This pattern offers four different sizes and two cuff ribbing options. Socks are knit from the toe up with a gusset and slip-stitch heel.
Sizes: S(M,L,XL); approx. 5.5(6.5,7.25,7.75)“ leg circumference, unstretched; stretches up to approx. 9.5(10.75,12.25,13.5)”
Gauges: 7 sts = 1” in Stockinette stitch; approx. 10 sts = 1” in Accordion Rib Pattern, unstretched
Yarn: 100 grams fingering-weight sock yarn (samples shown in Socks That Rock Lighweight by Blue Moon Fiber Art)
Needles: U.S. size 1 (2.25mm) needles (DPNs, 32” or longer circular for magic loop, or 8” to 9” circular), or size needed for gauge listed
