The second pattern is an easy hat that combines the characteristics of tams and beanies. The hat is knitted flat with a tall ribbed cuff and a crown in stockinette stitch and a few horizontal ribs along the edge. The crown is shaped by means of regular decreases that create a pleasant swirl motif on the top of the crown. Once the hat is done, the side can be seamed. Looking just like something a comic book alien may wear, this tam has a long cuff that can be worn just like a beret. The tam top can be positioned in many ways: it can lay flat on your head, push it to the side for a perky tam look, or pushed back. The hat is roomy and can also be worn as rasta hat to collect the wearer’s dreadlocks.
