Using a tight stitch with velvet yarn gives great warmth, drape, and texture. I love the way that the velvet yarn catches the light, making the stitches resemble pomegranate seeds.

This design perfect for a beginner, or anyone looking for a simple pattern. I used a size 6.5mm crochet hook, but you could easily go up or down a size depending on your tension. This pattern uses US crochet terminology throughout. The following stitches are used:

SS – Slip stitch
Ch – Chain stitch
SC – Single Crochet
