Ponderosa
As soon as the Summer ends, the mushrooming season starts.
On the weekends, I usually wake up early in the morning, get ready, put my boots on, grab my foraging basket, my Ponderosa hat, head out to the train station, and wait for the train that will take me to my favourite part of the woods.
This specific forest is called Kalngales, and its is magical.
Its floor is always covered by a carpet of evergreen moss, and pine trees are scattered all around.
One weekend, after walking for a couple of hours, gathering mushrooms and heather on my way, I decided to stop for a little break. I cooked the mushrooms in the middle of the woods, had some tea and layed down on my back for a while, looking at the tall trees that were around me.
It’s at that specific moment that I imagined how I could translate into knitting what I was seeing around me.
Ponderosa features some interesting twisted ribs along with knit & purl stitches that mimic the shapes of these pine trees.
The pattern is very accesible to beginner knitters, and would make a fun quick knit to more advanced ones.
The hat has two different sizes 1 (2). The size one is more of a slouchy beanie, and the second size is a (very) slouchy one.
