Pop-Dots
Is Pop-Dots a festive holiday hat? Or is it a playful, whimsical beanie to wear on dreary winter days?
Perhaps both!
Pop-Dots is fun to make, as well as fun to wear.
It starts at the top with a gathered crown and works its way down to a tiny rolled brim. In between are the perky Pop-Dots, which are crocheted into the fabric as you go, a process much like attaching beads. Because the Pop-Dots are crocheted in, and not sewn on afterward, they stand away a bit from the hat with a jaunty air.
The pattern includes a photo tutorial for attaching the Pop-Dots. There’s also a photo tutorial on making a knot-less standing single crochet to begin the contrasting chain-like ridges, optional embellishment added after the body of the hat is completed. Optional French knots add even more color and merriment to the hat.
Pop-Dots is ideally suited for brilliant bits of scrap yarn. Or one could use just a single color for classic polka dots.
