This is a crescent shaped shawl with pop-out spots.
Only one colour is worked at a time, stitches are then dropped to create the spots and texture.
It can be worked in a wide vareity of yarns in different gauges. A lace yarn with large needles like the Tvinni example gives a delicate drapy shawl. A fingering or dk weight yarn knit more closely (not such a large needle) is great for snuggling in to. This would also be a good choice for self striping and handspun yarns; giving many different colours of spots with little effort.
Alternatively, use left over yarns to work each row of spots and a solid colour for the background, to tie them together.

Listed below are approximate yarn requirements for a light fingering yarn.
