Ridges created by stitches that  run horizontally around the Port hat call to mind ripples on water and create extra insulation, making this a cosy choice for coastal walking. Created using only knit and purl stitches, it is knitted flat with picked up stitches for the brim and crown, and mattress stitch seaming.
IMPORTANT:
This pattern also includes instructions for Starboard CowlThe exploration of textures and patterns in both pieces ideally suit a richly coloured solid or semi-solid dyed, DK weight yarn- in this case red for Port and green for Starboard, like the navigation lamps on ships.
