Pattern Info
Sizing
Crescent shawl measures approximately:
Heavy weight: 89” wide by 18” deep.
Light weight: 83” wide by 18” deep.
Yarn
Heavy weight: 650 yds fingering weight + 650 yds lace weight mohair-silk (Sample shown in La Bien Aimée Merino Singles in ‘romance’ with La Bien Aimée Mohair Silk in ‘yellow brick road’.) We recommend using a blend of fingering yarn + mohair lace weight, but if you substitute we suggest using a DK weight yarn.
Light weight: 900 yds lace or fingering weight yarn (Sample shown in Julie Asselin Nurtured Fine in ‘dew’.)
Sizing Note: To make the light weight version a little bit smaller (requiring less yarn), you may opt to work either (or both) of charts A and B a single time only. The remainder of the shawl will work as written, however the total stitch counts will vary from those stated in the pattern.
Gauge
Heavy weight: 14 sts & 30 rows / 4” in welted stitch pattern
Light weight: 19 sts & 38 rows / 4” in welted stitch pattern
Needles
Heavy weight: US #9 / 5.5mm 40”+ circular needle
Light weight: US #6 / 4.0mm 40”+ circular needle
(or as required to achieve gauge)
