A slightly asymmetrical reversible triangular shawl with a lovely river pattern running along one edge, accentuated by garter stitch in the main body of the shawl for cozy comfort and a soothing knit. Dense and warm in a heavier weight, or with a beautiful drape in a lighter
weight. As this shawl is cast on at one wing tip with a few stitches and knit in a widening triangle, it is easy to adjust to your desired size!
Knitting skills used: Knit, purl, yo, ktbl, ptbl, m1r, m1l, and k2tog.
Yarn: Fingering weight version knit in Prairie Dye Studio bfl sock 850 yds/777 m, worsted weight version knit in Prairie Dye Studio sw merino 660 yds/603 m to achieve sizes shown in pattern.
Needle: US 4/3.5 mm circulars (32”/80 cm cable length) used for fingering weight version of shawl. US 8/5 mm circulars (32”/80 cm cable length) used for worsted weight version of shawl.
Notions: Blocking wires and pins, scissors, stitch markers, and tapestry needle.
Gauge: 20 st and 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch for fingering weight shawl. 15 st and 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch for worsted weight shawl. Shawls blocked aggressively with blocking wires and pins to achieve shape desired. Matching exact gauge is not necessary, but a different gauge will affect the size of your finished shawl.
