These socks are all about using up those extra little bits of sock weight yarn. If you’ve knit a pair of socks or two, you surely have some leftovers. If this is your first pair of socks, ask a sock knitting friend, you will be doing them a favor by taking some off their hands. And feel free to use all the leftovers, mix and match! Knit from the cuff down with an adjustable foot length.

For your main color (MC), choose a nice frugal yarn—something with at least 10% of a strengthening fiber (nylon, acrylic, polyamide). This will ensure that the heels and toes will not wear through for a long time.

To determine if you have enough yarn: weigh it on a good scale. Knitters outside of the U.S. do this routinely. Plop the yarn on your kitchen scale and see if you have enough. The pattern shows both weight and yardage needed. Combine leftovers, match or contrast, both ways will look great. But of course, this pattern will work perfectly well with two brand new yarns, and isn’t buying new yarn fun anyway?
