Pride Catnip Kicker
If you’re queer and have a cat (or if you have a queer cat), this free pattern is fur you! These pride-themed catnip-filled cat kickers are the best way to indoctrinate your pet with the gay agenda. stuffed with scrap yarn and catnip, they’re made with 100% wool and felted to ensure your cat won’t rip them apart. The pattern includes both hand-knitting instructions and machine-knitting instructions for a mid-gauge flatbed machine (like an LK-150 or KX-350).
About the Pattern
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Yarn
• Worsted weight 100% wool (or two strands of fingering weight held double). The use of
100% non-superwash wool is important for this project as it is a felted project, so
superwash wool, acrylic, or cotton will not be suitable.
• Choose colors based on preferred pride flag (see chart) or any colors you prefer.
Needles
• US 6 (4mm) DPNs or long circular needle for magic loop, or size to obtain gauge
Notions
• Yarn needle
• Scrap yarn to stuff kicker
• Catnip
Gauge
• 22 sts and 32 rounds = 4”/10cm in the round in Stockinette stitch, felted
Finished Measurements
• 4.5”/11.5cm circumference
• 6”/15cm length
Pattern Notes
This kicker is knit in the round in stripes to match various pride flags. Use whichever technique you prefer for small circumference knitting, such as DPNs or magic loop. The kicker is felted to ensure your cat can’t rip it apart too easily, and is then stuffed with scrap yarn and catnip to keep your cat entertained!
