This is a pattern for a topsy - turvy doll worked in the round. Each doll head/arms/body are worked separately and then grafted at the waist. Stitches are picked up for each skirt, which are sewn or crocheted together.
The bodices are worked individually. You may embellish your gowns any way you like. There is some simple optional crocheting and long hair crafting.
This is a great stash busting project as you may use any colours/yarn you like.
The yarn gauge may be used as a guideline to get close to the proportions of the sample doll, depending on your yarn:
8 sts x 10 rounds = 1 in/2.5 cm over St st on 2.25mm needles with Safran
5.5 sts x 8 rounds = 1 in/2.5 cm over St st on 3.5mm needles with Paragon
5 sts = 1 inch/2.5 cm over St st on 3.0mm needles with Bomull-Lin
