Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.

A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!

  • No Code – Full Price = $15.00 CAD
  • PK10 – 10% off = $13.50 CAD
  • PK20 – 20% off = $12.00 CAD
  • PK30 – 30% off = $10.50 CAD

I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.

The Professor Pullover is a super cozy, boxy sweater with stripes across the chest and sleeves. It is my take on a varsity stripe/university sweater, but since I was not a sporty person at all, I see it with more academia/professor/library vibes! It is knit top-down raglan style, with short row neck shaping. The sweater is intended to be an oversized fit (15-25% positive ease), and a gender-neutral style so anyone and everyone can rock this design! I will include some waist shaping modification instructions for those that may want a little shaping, but it is intended to be a bit more of a boxy fit. It is a size inclusive design, written in sizes every 4 inches from 30” - 70” chest. It also will have a modification option for a broader shoulder/bicep, for bodies with a broader shoulder area.

This pattern contains 2 PDFs, the main PDF is the full pattern WITHOUT the broad shoulder modifications. See second PDF for the pattern WITH the broad shoulder modifications.

Sizes offered: 30(34, 38, 42){46, 50, 54}58, 62, 66, 70
These sizes reflect the FINISHED chest measurements in inches of the sweater. The sweater is designed for 15-25% positive ease. I knit size 42 and have a 35” bust for about ~20% positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your chest, and multiply by 1.2 (or your intended ease) to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit.

Yarn recommended:
4 colours of any worsted weight yarn to match gauge.
I used The Frosted Stitch - Winter Worsted (218 yds/100g) in 4 of her Library winter tonal colourways. You will have one main colour and 3 contrast colours for the stripes.
Note: the pattern contains a coupon code for a discount on The Frosted Stitch Professor Pullover yarn kits!

A more cost friendly worsted weight yarn is Knitpicks Swish Worsted which is a really soft and lovely yarn as well!

Yardage recommended:

Note: yardage is an approximation and is calculated using the recommended length. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do length or broad shoulder modifications. The yardage can vary depending on your gauge and knitting, so I always recommend buying extra in case you require more yardage.

Needles recommended:
5 mm / US 8 / UK 6 for body (or size needed to obtain gauge)
4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 for ribbing (or one size down from your body needles)
Note: Interchangeable needles are your friend! You will need an appropriate length of cord for your body size, and for the collar and sleeves you may use a 16” cord, 32”+ cord with magic loop method, or DPNs.

Gauge:
4” x 4” = 18 sts x 22 rows
1” x 1” = 4.5 sts x 5.5 rows
using body needle size and working in stockinette, in the round (after blocking)
Note: If your stitch count is correct for gauge, but row count is not, use this needle size but remember you may need to adjust your length
Note: Use the same blocking method you plan to use for the actual sweater.

Extra notions recommended:
Lots of stitch markers! 3 markers (ideally of one colour) for raglan seams, 1 marker (second colour) for the BOR marker
Scissors
Yarn needle
Scrap yarn or extra cord for holding sections of the work
Row counter is recommended!
