Gauge: 17 sts & 27 rows = 10cm / 4” over reverse St st holding two strands of yarn together on 4.5mm needles, after blocking.
18 sts & 30 rows = 10cm / 4” over Seeded Rib stitch holding two strands of yarn together on 4.5mm needles, after blocking.

Needles: 4.5mm / US 7 circular needle, 80-120cm / 32-48” length (depending on size worked) AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions: 6 locking stitch markers, crochet hook in same size as working needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, scrap yarn, 2 knitting bobbins, sock yarn in a similar colour to yarn B for seaming (optional), tapestry needle, 6 buttons of 3cm / 1¼“ diameter.

Notes: Proffer is knit with two strands held together throughout in different combinations of colours.
The shawl collar and button bands are worked top-down in Seeded Rib stitch. The body is worked top-down in rev St st beginning with the upper back. The fronts are then worked and joined to back at underarm, then knit seamlessly to start of hem. The shawl collar is seamed to the body and the hem is knit in Seeded Rib stitch using the intarsia method to continue working in colours established for body and button bands.
Stitches are picked up along armholes for the sleeves; sleeve caps are shaped with short rows, then worked to the cuff in the round in St st inside out to avoid purling.
Four patch pockets are worked in rev St st with a rolled St st edging at top. Pockets are attached by grafting the bottom edge to the body, then seaming along sides using mattress stitch.
