There comes a time in your daughter’s life when you realise they are on their way to being an adult.

For me, that moment arrived when our daughter Bryony came home from school excitedly telling us that her end of year prom was fast approaching.

How she has reached the age of 16 is beyond me, in my head she’s still my little girl, and I guess always will be.

I had to mark this occasion with a new pair of socks for her to wear, and therefore a new design!

The Prom Queen Socks are the perfect design for this exciting day, or indeed any other special event. The little lace motif reminds me of her swishing dress, the swish factor was essential for Bryony!

I also think they would make the most beautiful bridesmaid socks. The stitch pattern is completely addictive so they knit up super fast!

Sock Details

The socks feature a pretty lace motif, that repeats around the leg and down the top of the foot. I used a traditional heel flap and gusset, and my Umbrella Toe.

Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but other methods can of course be used. The lace motif is both written and charted.

Sizes

The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts).

Yarn

The pattern sample pair of socks were knitted using a skein of my own hand dyed yarn in the shade ‘Prom Queen’.

I would recommend you use a solid, tonal or lightly speckled yarn. I am currently knitting a pair using a self striping yarn, which is working up beautifully.
