Notes From the Designer:
In ancient Greek mythology, Proserpina (or Persephone) was taken from her mother Demeter by the god of the underworld and forced to live with him six months out of the year, bringing about the cold and mournful weather of winter. When Proserpina came back to the land of the living, Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, would make sure the world was full of blossoms and plenty once more, as she rejoiced at seeing her daughter again.
While contemplating the change of seasons and how sometimes you just need a light sweater for those in-between days, I designed the Proserpina sweater. It is a short-sleeved, seamless yoke sweater that’s knitted top down and in the round with a simple, floral lace embellishment on the neckline and hem, which allows the yarn itself to shine. This sweater is perfect for those slightly cool spring and fall days. I hope you enjoy this simple yet elegant sweater.
- This sweater is worked top down and in the round, so there is no seaming or grafting involved with the circular yoke construction.
- Once you get to the body of the sweater, be sure to try it on as you go to check the length, so it’s just right for you.
- The sample shown was made in size Small on a 34” (86 cm) bust.
- The pattern contains written and charted instructions, and you will need to be able to read a simple lace chart to make this sweater.
