Psyché is a lacy springy shawl, so pretty and light, so soft and full of poetry.

Its body is made out of a large stockinette part, striped with a lacy crossed-stitches motif so that not to get bored in the process. Then comes a fine lacy edge, a butterfly edge, easy to knit, to get a refined result.
The name of this shawl is inspired by the butterflies. In Greek mythology, Psyche was the soul’s allegory, which was represented with butterfly’s wings. With this shawl, I wanted to “draw” a bunch of butterflies (crossed-stitches stripes) and a few elaborated butterflies on the edge.

After wet-blocking, the shawl should reach 185 cm long and 55 cm high at widest point (considering that you respected the gauge mentioned on the next page). The gauge is only informative. This gauge is slightly openwork since fingering thread is generally knit with 2,5/3,5mm needles.

Moreover, even if you are not familiar with all the techniques used, they are fully described in a step-by-step video tutorials, which are linked in the pattern. Please, be aware that the videos are in French. But on the net, you may find others videos in your own language or just the visual support !

Psyché est un beau châle léger, fluide, souple, doux, avec une petite touche de dentelle.
Il est constitué d’une partie jersey assez couvrante, parsemée de rayures aux mailles croisée pour ne pas trop s’ennuyer dessus. Ainsi que d’une petite partie de dentelle à “papillons” très simple à réaliser pour un rendu raffiné. 

Le nom du châle est inspiré des jolis motifs de dentelle. Dans la mythologie grecque, Psyché était l’allégorie de l’âme, qu’on représentait avec des ailes de papillons. Avec ce châle j’avais envie de « dessiner » une flopée de papillons (les rayures aux mailles croisées), mais aussi des papillons un peu plus élaboré, comme ceux que l’on peut trouver en bordure.

Après blocage, le châle mesurera 190 cm de long pour 55 cm de large, pourvu que l’échantillon soit respecté.
L’échantillon donné est purement indicatif. Il est donné d’après un jersey étiré et dégaugé.
