Pulmonata Hat
Pulmonata is a funy name for a hat, but less so when you know that this is the informal name for a classification group for snails. The spiraling knits and purls in this hat remind me of the shell of many land snails. So, it seemed that the perfect name for this spiraling hat would be one that reflected its resemblance to a snail shell. Acheived through a simple shifting of the knits and purls, you’ll be delighted with the look of this reversible hat whether you make it beanie leangth or slouchy.
This pattern is meant for adventurous novice knitters to experienced knitters and all those in-between.
