CAROL MELDRUM’S cushion cover design features a pattern of raised ridges, worked in a sequence of vibrant stripes. Each ridge is created by working a small group of stitches separately in a contrast colour, then joining together these stitches with those of the background fabric. The cushion is felted after knitting, to give a firmer fabric, so it’s crucial to use a feltable yarn for this project. Carol has chosen Lopi’s Léttlopi aran-weight Icelandic wool. It’s great value, and comes in a huge range of colours.
