My pumpkin patch pillow is a relaxing tapestry crochet project for fall! Last year, I made a pastel-colored Christmas tree pillow inspired by the Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon. For fall this year, I thought it would be fun to make a pillow inspired by It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. The front side is made with tapestry crochet. It is simply rows of double crochet stitches. The color changes within the rows form the pumpkins. The yarn is carried throughout the rows, so there are not hundreds of ends to weave in! There are pictures to explain this process, and a color chart to help you keep track of the color changes. The back of the pillow is simply rows of pink stitches. I tried to use all fall colors, but I had to add some pink! The pillow is held together with five buttons, so it can be taken on and off the insert. The written pattern includes step by step pictures throughout to explain all of the steps. I used Cascade Ultra Pima yarn (219 yd skeins of cotton DK yarn), but any DK weight yarn will work. I used one skein of each color, and two skeins for the back of the pillow. You will also need a 12 by 20-inch (30.5 by 50.8 cm) pillow insert and 5 buttons (1.2-1.5 cm in diameter).
