I’m looking forward to the leaves turning red and decorating my home with all things autumny. And that’s why I came up with another pattern, perfect for Fall or Halloween: a fingering / DK / worsted pumpkin knitted pattern.
The finished size depends on the needles and the weight of the yarn you choose.
Needles
Small pumpkin: US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Medium pumpkin: US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Big pumpkin: US 9 / 5.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
YARN
The sample was made using fingering yarn:.Home Row 1 Ply Organic Felted Fluff! 100% Fine Organic Merino.
You can use 2 strands of fingering yarn for the medium pumpkin and 4 strands of fingering yarn or 2 strands of DK for the big pumpkin.
YARDAGE
Small pumpkin in fingering yarn:
MC: 30.6 yds / 28 m
CC: 4.4 yds / 4 m
Medium pumpkin in DK yarn:

CC: 6.5 yds / 6 m
Big pumpkin in worsted yarn:

9 sts per inch for small pumpkin, 8 sts per inch for medium pumpkin, 7 sts per inch for big pumpkin

Small pumpkin: 3” x 2.6” / 7.6 x 6.6 cm
Medium pumpkin: 3.3” x 3.1”/ 8.3 x 7.8 cm
Big pumpkin: 5” x 4” / 13 x 10 cm
Construction
To make these pumpkins, I used a commonly used sphere formula. You will start from the top, and work increases and decreases until you reach the bottom, following the pattern.
Stuff your pumpkin following the directions, and make the grooves. Then work the stem.
