Puro Cable Socks

Puro Cable Socks are knitted from the toe up. The Turkish Cast-On method and a short row heel are easy to work following the provided How-to instructions. The cable pattern is running all the way from the toe to the cuff ribbing adding a classic touch to these perfectly fitting woolen socks.

Sizes:
38/39 (40/41) You can easily adjust foot length for smaller/bigger sizes

Circumference:
21 (21) cm / 8.25 (8.25)”

Materials:
Vuonue Pentti (70 % wool, 30 % tencel, 100 g = 240 m / 262 yrds, (100 g = 240 m / 262 yrds).

Needles:
Circular needle 3.5 mm / US 4, 80 cm / 32” for using the Magic Loop technique
Or needles to obtain the recommended gauge.

Notions:
4 stitch markers (removable / locking stitch markers)
Darning needle
Cable needle

Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches over Stockinette Stitch in the round.

Knitting techniques used in this pattern:
Stockinette Stitch in rows and in the round: knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side.

Cables:
follow the written instructions and the chart. Repeat rows 6−31.

1 x 1 Twisted Rib Stitch (k1 tbl, p1): knit 1 through back loop, purl 1, repeat - to end.

Double Stitch on the right side:
After turning your work, slip 1 stitch knitwise with yarn in the back.
Bring yarn up and over the needle to the front and then tug yarn a little until the slipped stitch slides around the needle to show the two legs of the stitch (= double stitch). Bring yarn to the back of the work between your needles. Keep tension and work the next and the following stitches as usual.

Double Stitch on the wrong side:
After turning your work, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front. Bring yarn up and over the needle to the back and then tug yarn a little until the slipped stitch slides around the needle to show the two legs of the stitch (= double stitch). Keep tension and work the next and the following stitches as usual.

How to work the double stitches on the following row:
Double stitches are treated as one stitch so when you work them, you knit or purl the two legs of a double stitch together as needed.

Abbreviations:
cn = cable needle
dpn = double pointed needle
DS(s) = double stitch(es)
k = knit
KFB = knit in the front and back of the stitch (one stitch increased)
M = marker
MDS = make a double stitch
p = purl

Puro-palmikkosukat

Puro-palmikkosukat neulotaan varpaasta varteen. Sukat aloitetaan turkkilaisella aloituksella ja kantapäät neulotaan lyhennetyillä kerroksilla. Suomenkielinen ohje on julkaistu Kotiliesi käsityö 2/2023 -lehdessä.

Lanka: Vuonue Pentti villasukkalanka (70 villa, 30 tencel, 100 g = 240 m, 140 tex 3).

Puikot: Sukkapuikot 3,5 tai pyöröpuikot 3,5, pituus 80 cm (jos neulot magic loop -tekniikalla) tai käsialan mukaan.

Muut tarvikkeet: 3 silmukkamerkkiä.

Tiheys: 24 s ja 32 krs sileää neuletta = 10 cm.

Mallineuleet: Sileä neule: neulo suljettuna neuleena kaikki krs:t oikein ja tasona oikealla oikein, nurjalla nurin.
Palmikkoneule: neulo ruutupiirroksen ja ohjeen mukaan. Toista 4.-29. krs:ia. Kaksoissilmukka nurjan puolen krs:n alussa: lanka on työn edessä. Vie oikea puikko 1. silmukkaan kuin neuloisit sen nurin, nosta silmukka neulomatta oikealle puikolle. Vie lanka työ taakse ja vedä lankaa samalla kevyesti siten, että silmukasta muodostuu kaksoissilmukka. Kaksoissilmukka oikean puolen krs:n alussa: lanka on työn takana. Vie oikea puikko 1. silmukkaan kuin neuloisit sen oikein, nosta silmukka oikealle puikolle neulomatta. Tuo lanka puikon yli työn eteen, ja vedä samalla lankaa kevyesti siten, että yksöissilmukasta muodostuu kaksoissilmukka. Vie lanka työn taakse. Kun tulet seuraavan kerran kaksoissilmukan kohdalle, neulo molemmat s-lenkit yhtenä silmukkana.
Lyhenteet: oet = neulo silmukka etureunasta ja uudelleen takareunasta oikein (1 s:n lisäys). KS = kaksoissilmukka. SM = nosta silmukkamerkki. AM = aseta silmukkamerkki.
