When winter continues for a long time, spring comes quickly. Where I grew up, the pussy willow is one flower that heralds the arrival of spring. I created this stitch pattern to resemble the branches with furry catkins that look like cat tails.

Both edges of the scarf are in stockinette stitch, so the scarf edges naturally curl inward to look like I-cord. The double yarn overs create the fluffy bobbles of the pussy willow catkins. I used a few techniques to improve the shape. You can easily adjust the size by changing the number of repetitions.
