The Qivittoq shawl is part of the beautiful and unique knitting book named Sjaler Nordfra in Danish and Nordic Shawls in English.
The book has 18 gorgeous shawls designed by Karen S. Lauger, inspired by the wild Nordic nature and the stories of the creatures that live there.

Qivittoq is the mountain walker or lonely wanderer.
Qivittoq are people, who have turned their back to society and choose a solitary existence in the mountains in Greenland. They are said slowly to transform to ghostlike creatures capable of taking animal form and having otherworldly powers. Unexplainable events are often attributed to the feared mountain walkers.
