Queen of the Night Beret
The central motif of this beret mimics the delicate white flowers that bloom nightly in the summer months at my home in south Florida: night-blooming jasmine, one of the most intoxicating floral scents in the world. The flower has a long history and the mysterious nickname of Queen of the Night.
The beret begins from the center of the flower, increases out to the widest part of the hat, decreases back down to the circumference of the brim, and a thick, doubled brim is worked extra long to keep your ears snug and warm.
Using a dinner plate for blocking this type of garment is really helpful, and even more so for sewing the doubled brim!
