Even the knitter who is double pointed needle or lace impaired can bang out these sexy, seamed, lacy stockings in a weekend.

They’re worked flat from the toe up, so simply stop knitting and add some ribbing when they’re the length you want.  Then, to keep these thigh-highs from falling down, wear them with garters (sexy!).

When asked if this stitch had a name, I had to think for a moment, and realized that this was a pattern that I’d use to make windowpane vests for my Barbie doll in the late ’60s.  Since I don’t recall seeing it in any stitch dictionaries, it may very well be the product of a seven-year-old mind. In any event, when stretched over a shapely leg, it becomes an attractive openwork stocking pattern.
