Quilt and Cable Blanket
The quilt and cable blanket is a deceptively simple pattern with a cable-wrap worked every 16 rows. The blanket uses four skeins of Cascade Eco Wool/ Eco +, making it extremely warm, comfortable, and affordable.
Skill Level:
Intermediate
Size:
52” x 64” after blocking
Materials:
Cascade Yarns® Eco+
100% Peruvian Highland Wool
250 g (8.82 oz ) / 478 yds (437 m)
4 skeins of color #2452 (Turtle)
40” US 8 (5.0 mm)/40” circular needles, or size necessary to obtain gauge
4 Stitch Markers in color A, 8 Stitch Markers in color B
Cable needle
Yarn needle
Row counter (optional, but highly recommended)
Blocking wires (again, highly recommended)
Gauge:
4 sts = 1” in Stockinette stitch before blocking, 3.5 sts = 1” after blocking.
Pattern Note although the initial read-through of the pattern may sound tricky, I assure you that the pattern will work out if you trust the directions and knit the pattern as written. The first cable row twists the K2, P2 ribbing out of their proper order, resulting in several areas where there stitches will no longer line up as on previous rows. This will be corrected by the second cable row.
Please, take time to knit a gauge swatch before starting, as the yardage will be affected if you are not knitting to the proper gauge (cables and ribbing use up a good amount of yarn). The blanket will appear to be too thin while in progress (again, because of the ribbing) but will block out to the proper size. Blocking instructions are included in the pattern.
I hope you enjoy knitting this blanket as much as I did. Happy knitting!
