Quinn
This hat and mitten set is worked in the round from the cuff/brim up. Either accessory – or the set! – would make a great introduction to working cables from a chart or cabling without a cable needle.
YARN 
Kelbourne Woolens Erin (60% fine Irish wool, 40% New 
Zealand wool; 158 yds/100 gm skein): 803 copper, hat: 1 
(1) skein, mittens: 1 (1, 1) skein. 
GAUGE 
19 sts and 25 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Hat Pattern on larger 
needles, after blocking. 
Mitten Cable (5 sts) = 1.25” (3.2 cm) wide on larger 
needles, after blocking. 
NEEDLES 
1 – set US 7 (4.5 mm) DPNs 
1 – US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular. 
1 – set US 9 (5.5 mm) DPNs 
1 – US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular. 
Check your gauge and adjust needle size(s) accordingly if necessary.
