Quite Contrary
Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.
Based on one of my favorite nursery rhymes, this lacy mitt puts Mary’s entire garden in your hands. It has silver bells at the cuff and a neat row of cockle shells runs up the inside to the top of the thumb. A lattice defines the wrist and a vine motif adorns the hand. Perfect for any pretty maid in her garden!
These mitts have a lot going on. In each rnd you may be knitting from one or more charts plus written instructions, but never fear, I have indicated how many sts will be worked in each pattern. Stitch markers may be useful for marking the different sections. Care should also be taken in keeping track of which row you are working on each chart.
