Rabbit Ears
This easy to knit pattern for a good basic beanie hat is free until 6 pm, PST, Wednesday, November 12, 2025. After that it will increase $1 every 24 hours until it reaches its final price of $4. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
You can make these hats quickly for gifts or for an inpatient recipient! The hat itself is quick on size US7/4.5mm 16”/40cm circular needles and a set of four double pointed knitting needles in the same size.
The rabbit is charted facing left as shown or right. It is optional using duplicate stitch. The colors shown are Malabrigo Worsted (so yummy!) in Periwinkle for the hat and the rabbit in Purple Mystery. I absolutely love Malabrigo yarns, in particular the Worsted. It’s beautiful merino wool. Merino is an absolutely great wool. It’s soooo soft and can puff up to look good or squish down to fit a multiple range of needle sizes with equally pleasing results. The Malabrigo dying process makes absolutely lovely and vibrant colors. The hat at the end of photos is made from Knit Picks Chroma Worsted Weight. You can use any worsted or Aran weight as long as you can achieve the correct gauge. I included the photo so you can see how the hat looks without the duplicate stitch rabbit.
There are charts included for rabbits facing left and right. You pick! You can also use the chart(s) to add the rabbit motif to any sweater or other garment, as long as it’s knitted.
