Rachel Carson
Rachel Louise Carson (May 27, 1907 – April 14, 1964) was an American marine biologist and conservationist whose books and other writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement. She particularly focused on environmental problems that she believed were caused by synthetic pesticides. Her book Silent Spring (1962) brought environmental concerns to the attention of the public and spurred a reversal in national pesticide policy, which led to a nationwide ban on DDT and other pesticides, and it inspired a grassroots environmental movement that led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The Rachel Carson headband is worked flat then seamed together to form the bow. It’s a great project for quick gift-knitting for using up bits of leftover yarns.
This pattern is available as part of Liberation, which can be purchased as a print or ebook.
Individual pattern purchase for Rachel Carson is no longer available.
