The pattern combines and updates two 19th century patterns, one, the apple-leaf bedspread from The Ladies’ World (1896), that is a contender for the pattern described in L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables novels.

The pattern is knit as suggested in the original pattern, meaning that separate pieces are knit and then sewn together. It is not a difficult pattern to adapt to some knitting in the round, should you choose, but these notes are not provided.
