CONSTRUCTION
This oversized, cropped raglan is worked seamlessly from the top-down, with short rows worked flat to shape the front neckline. Raglans are worked in a decorative garter and twisted stitch pattern, with simple lace delineating the edges. Front, back and sleeves are worked in the round as one piece, with compound shaping within the raglan yoke to provide an ideal fit across all nine sizes. Once the yoke is divided into body and sleeves, some stitches from the sleeve sections are added to the body; in this way, a slim sleeve fit is achieved while gaining additional positive ease at the bust. The body is worked in the round with slight waist shaping, then worked straight to the hem, which is completed in simple ribbing. Similarly, the sleeves are also worked in the round with decreases for a slim fit at the cuffs, and worked to three-quarter length. In final steps, the collar is picked up and worked twice as long as needed, then folded in and live-seamed to the inside of the neckline.

Two yarn options are provided: a sport-weight woolen-spun, 100% wool which provides more structure in a cropped sweater (sample shown in grey) and a DK-weight, worsted-spun, blend of wool and yak which creates more drape (sample shown in burgundy).

If you enjoy working the Railway Pullover, there is a set of accessory patterns with the same stitch pattern and gauge, with which you could work up your leftover yarn from this pattern. Check out the Railway Collection in my Ravelry store or website.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
This pattern has 9 size options. Using the recipient’s chest measurement, choose a size that will give 14-20 inches (35.5-51cm) of positive ease at bust (the difference between body’s smaller measurements and the garment’s larger measurements at this point). It is also intended to provide 4 to 4.5 inches (10 to 11.5cm) of positive ease at bicep. The most fool-proof method is to measure a similar fitting garment in your wardrobe and choose size that matches. See schematic in photos.
