Rain Shower
The inspiration for this pattern came from the iconic salt shower depicted on Morton Salt boxes. I gave myself the challenge of reproducing in knitting the graceful curve of spilling salt. I chose a raindrop pattern that’s essentially composed of 2 stitches (a yarn over and a decrease) and then arranged the raindrops to spill from the right shoulder. In keeping with my original salt inspiration, I chose an ivory color yarn for the sweater. Once I started knitting, the pattern also reminded me of distressed jeans. I omitted any waist shaping from the design to give it a more relaxed look in keeping with the “distressed” vibe of the stitch pattern. The soft yarn and relaxed fit make it a comfy sweater to wear on cold weekends.
