Matching Rainbow Set: Blanket

Set is crocheted of baby weight yarn using sizes F, D, and E crochet hooks. Short-sleeve jacket and booties feature ribbon ties.

Notes below are taken from the original printed booklet (1981). The pattern gives quantities for the entire set of blanket, jacket, and booties and does not break down the quantities by item.

The total yardage above is an estimate, based on an average of 100 to 150 yards per ounce for fingering-weight (i.e., baby weight) yarn.

Materials: Baby wt yarn, 5 oz (142 grams) white, 1 oz (28.4 grams) each pink, apricot, light yellow, light green, light aqua, and light lavender.

Aluminum crochet hooks size F (4.00 mm) for Blanket and Booties only; size D (3.25 mm) for Blanket Squares only;size E (3.50 mm) for Jacket only; or sizes needed for gauge. Note: These are sizes (letters and mm) named in the printed pattern. Sizes listed at the top in the Ravelry drop-downs are chosen based on mm, not letter-names.

2 yards of 1/4” white satin ribbon.

Gauge: With D hook, 1 square = 1.5” x 1.5”. With E hook in pattern, 8 sts=1”; 3 rows=1”. With F hook in double crochet, 10 sts=2”; 6 rows=2”.

Size: Blanket: Approx 28” x 28”
Garments: Birth to 3 mos (to 13 lbs).
