RainbowT kids
The stitches in colors of the rainbow break through the neutral main color like sunrays through the dusty sky and spread joy during knitting. But the classical topdown circular yoke T-shirt can be worked as a solid or 2-colour option as well.
It’s a perfect project for stash busting. Collar, cuffs and splitted hem are worked in a structured pattern to give some extra interest, optional is a little front slit.

The pattern is testknit approved. Please see the lovely versions of my testers!
SIZES
18m (2y, 3y, 4y, 6y) (8y, 10y, 12y, 14y)
Finished Chest Circumference: 54,5 (58 / 63,5 / 69 / 76,5) (82 / 87,5 / 91 / 96,5) cm
21.5 (22.75 / 25 / 27.25 / 30) (32.25 / 34.5 / 35.75 / 38) inches
EASE
-->Sizing is a guide only and you should pick the finished measurement size closest to the child’s measurements
plus 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) of positive ease for smaller sizes and 10-15cm for larger sizes (6y +). The T-shirt has a relaxed oversized fit. But as children grow quickly, you can’t go wrong with knitting a larger size!
BE CAREFUL with the neck opening, If you are a tight knitter and /or if you know the wearer of the shirt has a larger head I recommend to work it with a little slit at front (instructions are included) so that it can fit easily over the head!
NEEDLES
Circular needle to obtain gauge: recommended 4,0 mm (US 6) with a length at least of 80 cm (32 inches)
GAUGE
20 sts x 32 round/ rows = 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) in stockinette stitch, blocked
YARN
Worsted or DK weight or yarn to obtain requested gauge
MC (Main Color): Sandnes Garn Line (worsted weight; 53% co, 33% viscose, 14% linen; 110 m (120 yds) per 50g)
CC (Contrast Color): Sample A uses 7 different stash yarns (CC1-CC7) from sport- to worsted weight. Sample B uses 1 contrast yarn (CC1): Sandnes Garn Tynn Line (light fingering weight; 53% co, 33% viscose, 14% linen; 220 m (120 yds) per 50g)
METRES NEEDED
MC (Main Color): 260 (290 / 350 / 400 / 460) (520 / 570 / 640 / 700) m
(260 (280 / 350 / 390) (440 / 500 / 580) yds)
For the CC (contrast colors) you need a bit less than 20% of the total amount of yarn
So if you work with 1 contrast color you need around 60 (70 / 80 / 90 / 100) (110 / 120 / 140 / 150) m
(70 (80 / 90 / 90 / 110) (120 / 130 / 150 / 160) yds)
If you work with 7 colors you need 10-30 m (11-33yds) per color
-->The amount stated is calculated generously to have enough in hand for swatching and adjustments
-->Yardage may vary a bit from knitter to knitter, yarn to yarn! Have always a bit more in stock to be on the safe side.
