This pattern was originally published as For Yarn’s Sake’s contribution to the 2020 Rose City Yarn Crawl in Portland, Oregon. The pattern is also part of the 2020 Pattern Collection: Birds of the Pacific Northwest.

Regal deep red, charcoal and black feathers. A crown shaped plume on the top of its head. And an annoying habit of tap tap tapping on siding, roofs, and metal drainpipes in the wee hours of the morning, rudely waking everyone and everything in the house. All hallmarks of the Northwest’s Red-Breasted Sap Sucker; aka the Woodpecker. And the inspiration behind our Rat-A-Tat-Tat Hat, designed exclusively for the 2020 Rose City Yarn Crawl.
