Welcome to the second annual Sannila Designs mystery shawl knitalong!

Pick your favourite yarn in three different colours and join me on this adventure! Out of those three colours, the two contrast colours should have good contrast between them. Solids and semisolids work the best. The main colour can be whatever you like (although I wouldn’t recommend self-striping), but note that you should have 150 grams of this one.

Three yarn kits have been dyed by Rva Silmusolmu, you can find them here. And if you decide to join in, you can find the official cover photo and other graphics to use on social media here.

The pattern is divided into 8 parts and we will be knitting for right about a month. The clues will be published a few days apart, depending on the amount of knitting in each. They will be updated as follows:

Clue 1: 8.5.
Clue 2: 9.5.
Clue 3: 13.5.
Clue 4: 16.5.
Clue 5: 17.5.
Clue 6: 20.5.
Clue 7: 25.5.
Clue 8: 2.6.

Other than that, there’s not much more I can reveal. Prepare for everything and have fun! Join the discussions and learn more in my Ravelry group.

Size:
One size, large.

Yarn:
Rva Silmusolmu Suomi Single Fingering (100 % Finnsheep wool, 205 m / 50 g) or other fingering weight yarn. Shown in colours Rusko (MC), Vehnä (CC1) and Savusauna (CC2).

3 skeins of MC, 2 skeins of both CC1 and CC2.

Yardage:
MC: 605 yards / 550 meters.
CC1: 350 yards / 315 meters.
CC2: 325 yards / 295 meters.

Needle:
3,5 mm (US 4) - 47” / 120 cm circular needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge to match each section of the shawl.

Gauge:
22 sts x 38 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in secret stitch pattern worked flat (after blocking).
25 sts x 40 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in secret stitch pattern worked flat (before blocking).

A difference in gauge may result in you needing more yarn.

Others:
a smaller circular needle (for example US 1½ / 2,5 mm), stitch markers, tapestry needle.
